Party In The Park Concerts

Temple Newsome Park, Leeds, England (UK)
(Held on Sunday, 19 July 1998)
The party was hosted by Aire FM
(The Local Radio Station in Leeds) in association with Leeds City Council. The FREE Open air gig was one of the biggest ever held in the Leeds area with over 60,000 attending.
Temple Newsome Park is the grounds of a stately home just outside the City Centre of Leeds.
Below is a review from someone who attended the the event.
Lou came on and at the front there were cheers of 'I Love You' etc, but at the
back there were a few of 'You Bitch'. It upset me, because I didn't think
people thought of Lou in this way. She was wearing black peddle pushers and a
kind of grey coat. There were two dancers with her and two more came on for
Naked. She said 'Hello Leeds' and said some stuff about her and Jamie getting
married. The first song she sang was All That Matters. That got a dull clap
and she moved swiftly on to Let's Go Round Again. As it is more well-known,
it got the crowd going a bit more and there was a big cheer at the end. Arms
Around The World was next and calmed the crowd down slightly. There were a
lot of people singing along to it and the hecklers at the back didn't disrupt
the song. Last of all she played Naked and I think it was a good decision.
The crowd were really up for it and danced and sung along. By the end I think
she had won a few more fans. In between the songs there was not much dialoge
between herself and the crowd, just things like 'How ya doin' Leeds? Next up
is ,,,'. On the whole I think it went well, but the reception she got was
very different to what it was a year ago. She got less cheers than people
like 911, Peter Andre and even Ultimate Chaos.
The other acts there included Peter Andre, Kavana, Ultimate Chaos, Clock,
Electrasy and Love Station.
(Thanks to Cazza for writing this review of the concert.)
